List of successfully funded grants awarded by calendar year to Georgia public libraries, including those that used the LIFT Grants Program as a resource (denoted by an L).

2024

Statham Public Library, a branch of Piedmont Regional Library System, received a Dollar General Summer Reading Grant for $2,000. The funds will be used to purchase Hi-Lo Ready-To-Read books and children's books in Spanish in order to prevent summer slide and encourage below-grade-level readers.  

Lee County Library System received a Dollar General Summer Reading Grant. The funds will be used to help prevent summer slide and encourage literacy.  

Ruth Holder Public Library, a branch of West Georgia Regional Library System, received a Dollar General Summer Reading Grant. The funds will be used to help prevent summer slide and encourage literacy.  

W. H. Stanton Memorial Library, a branch of Azalea Regional Library System, received a Digital Literacy Workshop Initiative grant from the Public Library Association for $2,500.

Sparta-Hancock County Library, a branch of Azalea Regional Library System, received a Digital Literacy Workshop Initiative grant from the Public Library Association for $2,500.

Eatonton-Putnam County Library, a branch of Azalea Regional Library System, received an LSTA subgrant for $1,500 to establish an Alice Walker mini-museum.

Azalea Regional Library System was awarded a $2,000 GPLS Marketing Grant to promote PLAY cards throughout their library system.

Sparta-Hancock County Library, a branch of Azalea Regional Library System, was awarded $5,088 from Washington Electric Foundation for the purchase of library books and materials.

The following libraries were selected for Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities grants from the American Library Association:

These grants offer support to libraries in rural areas for community engagement projects and resources, with the goal of increased accessibility of library facilities, services, and programs.

The following libraries and library systems were awarded 2024 Children's Book Project Grants from the Pilcrow Foundation to increase access to quality children's books in rural communities:

2023

Coastal Plain Regional Library System was awarded a Children's Book Project Grant from the Pilcrow Foundation for $800 to increase access to quality children's books. The Pilcrow Foundation recognizes the important role public libraries play in rural communities. Grant recipients choose the most appropriate books for their community from a list of over 500 high-quality hardcover children’s books. 

Sara Hightower Regional Library System was awarded a $50,000 Financial Industry Regulatory Authority's (FINRA) Foundation Library Grant. This grant will be used toward financial literacy initiatives in all three counties served by SHRLS. The library will partner with The University of West Georgia's Center for Economic Education and Financial Literacy to prepare materials and courses for staff and the community.

Chattooga Public Library, a branch of the Sara Hightower Regional Library System, was selected to participate in Community Connect: Fostering Digital Access, an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) and Capital One that helps rural libraries offer internet access and financial education for their patrons. The library was awarded a $2,000 cash grant to support financial literacy and technology programs and was provided with five laptops and hotspots.

Tifton-Tift County Public Library, a branch of Coastal Plain Regional Library System, was awarded a $5,000 Big Read grant from The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), in partnership with Arts Midwest. This grant aims to inspire meaningful conversations, artistic responses, and new discoveries and connections in participating communities.  

Coastal Plain Regional Library System was awarded a $6,000 PLA Digital Literacy Grant for Spanish Computer Classes.  

Centralhatchee Public Library, a branch of West Georgia Regional Library System, was awarded a $500 grant through GPB's Iconic America Grant.

Auburn Public Library, a branch of Piedmont Regional Library System, was awarded a $3,000 Literacy Foundation Youth Literacy Grant to increase their Spanish language collection.

2022

Athens Regional Library System was awarded $2,300 to explore programming that features the culinary arts and the humanities under a Fall 2022 Grant from Georgia Humanities.

Azalea Regional Library System was awarded $5,000 (matching) to help fund a makerspace in Jasper County under a Vibrant Communities Grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts.

Thomas County Library System received $3,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with their summer reading program. 

Houston County Public Library was awarded $20,000 to diversify the digital collection with a special emphasis on BIPOC and LGBTQ+ voices under the ALA COVID Library Relief Fund.

Sara Hightower Regional Library System was awarded $2,000 to help local residents returning from a prison term to reintegrate into the community under the ALA Libraries Transform Communities Engagement Grant.

2021

Lee County Library was awarded $2,500 for purchasing children's books in various formats from Sumter EMC Foundation.

Marshes of Glynn Libraries was awarded $34,470 for full implementation of the Take 5 program to address early literacy in partnership with Glynn County schools under the Institute of Museum and Library Services American Rescue Plan (ARP) grant. (L)

Laurens County Library (Oconee Regional Library System) was awarded $5,000 for the preservation of historical records under a Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council (GHRAC) grant.

Hart County Library was awarded $6,285 to purchase mobile printing equipment and software through an Operation Round Up grant from Hart EMC Foundation.

Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System was awarded $45,000 to digitize the August Herald from July 1898 to November 1924 in partnership with the Digital Library of Georgia under a grant provided by the Knox Foundation. 

Middle Georgia Regional Library was awarded $45,000 to increase visually impaired resources, including establishing a braille collection and installing hearing loops in library facilities, through a Community Foundation of Central Georgia from a private funder. 

Middle Georgia Regional Library was awarded $75,000 to develop a DEI program around governing boards for arts and cultural organizations by the Knight Foundation. 

Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System received $3,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with their summer reading program. 

Hall County Library System received $4,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with youth literacy programming. 

South Georgia Regional Library System received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to collect patron stories through a social media and local newspaper campaign to capture stories that focus on how LSTA-funded programs have impacted patron lives as well as printed materials for local businesses. 

Statesboro Regional Library System received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to run a campaign urging patrons to promote GLASS, Summer Reading, PINES, and more through a billboard and printed materials to local businesses.

Sequoyah Regional Library System received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to run a campaign urging patrons to share their "Sequoyah Stories" via a QR code or in person using their selfie station banners that also promote LSTA-funded programming.

White County Public Libraries (Northeast Georgia Regional Library System) received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to rent two digital billboards in strategic locations to promote LSTA-funded programs.

Marshes of Glynn Libraries received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to promote their Summer Reading Program and PINES through a radio, billboard, and social media campaign to reach parents with young children and adults without a library card.

Ocmulgee Regional Library System received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to promote the benefits of PINES through ads in local newspapers, social media, and radio across their six-county area. 

Henry County Public Library received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to run Spotify ads that promotes PINES and add PINES-branded coffee sleeves to inform residents about the benefits of PINES.

Cobb County Public Library received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to place posters and placards promoting LSTA-funded initiatives on CobbLinc buses across 73 local and fixed routes and 35 express/commuter routes.

Newton County Library System was awarded $5,000 from the 2021 Facebook Newton Data Center Community Action Grants to host a series of community robotics programs titled "NCLS Books and Bots,” which will introduce simple computer coding and engineering concepts to children ages 8-15.

Hancock County Library (Azalea Regional Library System) was awarded $5,000 from the Georgia Public Library Service Youth Services Department under their LSTA Incarceration Grant to work with families and children who have an incarcerated parent or loved one by connecting them through a live feed story time in the library's Bee Kind Family Room.

Sequoyah Regional Library System was awarded $2,126.80 under the Library Without Walls Broadband Infrastructure grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to assist with the non-discounted portion of their E-rate Category 2 project that will upgrade and expand broadband services to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Northeast Georgia Regional Library System was awarded $948.00 under the Library Without Walls Broadband Infrastructure grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to assist with the non-discounted portion of their E-rate Category 2 project that will upgrade and expand broadband services to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Newton County Library System was awarded $7,202.48 under the Library Without Walls Broadband Infrastructure grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to assist with the non-discounted portion of their E-rate Category 2 project that will upgrade and expand broadband services to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Middle Georgia Regional Library System was awarded $1,064.66 under the Library Without Walls Broadband Infrastructure grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to assist with the non-discounted portion of their E-rate Category 2 project that will upgrade and expand broadband services to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lee County Library was awarded $751.37 under the Library Without Walls Broadband Infrastructure grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to assist with the non-discounted portion of their E-rate Category 2 project that will upgrade and expand broadband services to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Flint Regional Library System was awarded $5,395.10 under the Library Without Walls Broadband Infrastructure grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to assist with the non-discounted portion of their E-rate Category 2 project that will upgrade and expand broadband services to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. DeKalb County Public Library was awarded $5,218.50 under the Library Without Walls Broadband Infrastructure grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to assist with the non-discounted portion of their E-rate Category 2 project that will upgrade and expand broadband services to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Chattahoochee Valley Libraries was awarded $9,157.77 under the Library Without Walls Broadband Infrastructure grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to assist with the non-discounted portion of their E-rate Category 2 project that will upgrade and expand broadband services to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Worth County Library System was awarded $1,100.00 under the Library Without Walls Wi-Fi Expansion grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to upgrade and expand Wi-Fi services that will better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. (L)

West Georgia Regional Library System was awarded $15,000.00 under the Library Without Walls Wi-Fi Expansion grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to upgrade and expand Wi-Fi services that will better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. (L)

Statesboro Regional Libraries was awarded $7,080.00 under the Library Without Walls Wi-Fi Expansion grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act funding to upgrade and expand Wi-Fi services that will better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. (L)

Live Oak Public Libraries was awarded $45,793.50 under the Library Without Walls Tech Innovation grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using state technology funding to convert to Chrome devices that will allow remote management to better assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hall County Library System was awarded $2,500.00 under the Library Without Walls Tech Innovation grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act and state technology funding to purchase licenses that will allow for more socially distant computers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lee County Library was awarded $3,613.00 under the Library Without Walls Tech Innovation grant from the Georgia Public Library Service IT Department using CARES Act and state technology funding to create a security solution that will better protect the public using their parking lot Wi-Fi service during the COVID-19 pandemic. South Georgia Regional Library received $10,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with adult literacy programming.

Maxwell Library (Augusta-Richmond County Library System) was awarded $2,000 as a part of the Libraries Lead with Digital Skills initiative from Public Library Association and Grow with Google to assist those impact by COVID-19 virtually with resume best practices.

Commerce Public Library (Piedmont Regional Library System) was awarded $2,000 as a part of the Libraries Lead with Digital Skills initiative from Public Library Association and Grow with Google to assist those impacted by COVID-19 with live virtual classes on the app Primer for small businesses. Statesboro-Bulloch County Library (Statesboro Regional Public Libraries) was awarded $2,000 as a part of the Libraries Lead with Digital Skills initiative from Public Library Association and Grow with Google to assist those impacted by COVID-19 virtually with empowering small businesses to grow online. Live Oak Public Libraries was awarded $2,000 as a part of the Libraries Lead with Digital Skills initiative from Public Library Association and Grow with Google to assist those impacted by COVID-19 virtually with tips for job seeking and technology available for checkout. (L)

Mary Willis Library (Bartram Trail Regional Library) received $1,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with their summer reading program. 

Roddenberry Memorial Library received $2,200 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with their summer reading program. 

Chattooga County Library System received $2,000 from the Dollar General Foundation to purchase materials for their summer reading program. 

Okefenokee Regional Library System received $3,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with their summer reading program. 

Lee County Library received $3,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for books for their summer reading program. 

Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System received $3,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with their summer reading program. 

Live Oak Public Libraries received $10,000 from the National League of Cities (NLC) to aid with 2020 Census counts in hard to reach areas as a part of the NLC Census Rapid Response grant. (L)

2019

Azalea Regional Library System received $1,500 from the Georgia Public Library Service Communications Department under their Marketing grant to redesign the library system's website and to create story time and outreach kits for circulation between branches. 

Azalea Regional Library System received $2,000 from the Dollar General Foundation for assistance with youth literacy programming. 

Cherokee Regional Library System was awarded $39,992 for their Next Chapter program under the the Institute of Museum and Library Services Accelerating Promising Practices for Small Libraries (APP) grant. (L)
